House Bill # 312 |
| Primary Sponsor: | D. Short | Additional Sponsor(s):    Sen. Venables |
| CoSponsors: | Reps. Lee, Booth, Ewing, Hastings, Outten |
| Introduced on : | 02/06/2008 | |
| Long Title: | AN ACT TO AMEND TITLE 9 OF THE DELAWARE CODE CONCERNING THE MANNER OF VOTING UPON SUBURBAN COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENTS. |
| Synopsis: | This Bill enables eligible voters to vote upon Suburban Community Improvements by absentee ballots, as prescribed by County government. Currently an eligible voter must appear in person, without the possibility of voting by absentee ballots, as prescribed by county government.
In addition, the amendment to § 507(b) gives greater flexibility in scheduling elections. Currently there is a conflict in the scheduling requirements with the election being held within 20 to 30 days after county government action, but with 30 days advance notice of the election. By allowing up to 60 days to conduct the election, the conflict with the 30 day advance notice requirement is eliminated.
