Sen. Sharp, Adams, Marshall
Rep. Lee
AN ACT TO AMEND TITLE 29 OF THE DELAWARE CODE PROVIDING FOR REAPPORTIONMENT OF THE STATE LEGISLATIVE DISTRICTS INTO 21 SENATORIAL DISTRICTS AND 41 REPRESENTATIVE DISTRICTS AND TO PERMIT THE COUNTY BOARDS OF ELECTIONS TO APPROVE ELECTION LINES WHEN A VACANCY EXISTS ON THE BOARD.
This Act reapportions the General Assembly into 21 Senate Districts and 41 House Districts. This legislation would also allow the Board of Elections in Kent, New Castle or Sussex County to approve proposed election district lines for the 2002 Primary and General Election even if a vacancy occurs on the board at that time as long as a majority of the board members agree. Presently, when a vacancy exists on the Board of Elections, the Board can only meet to certify elections and cannot meet to transact any other business.
