AN ACT TO REPEAL CHAPTER 312, VOLUME 60, LAWS OF DELAWARE AND TO AMEND CHAPTER 216, VOLUME 27, LAWS OF DELAWARE ENTITLED: "AN ACT AMENDING, REVISING AND CONSOLIDATING THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF NEW CASTLE".
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Delaware (two-thirds of all members elected to each house concurring therein):
Section I. Chapter 312, Volume 60, Laws of
Delaware is hereby repealed.
Section 2. Amend Chapter 216, Volume 27, Laws
of Delaware by striking section 18 thereof in its entirety and substituting in lieu thereof the following:
"Section 18. The Council shall have power and
authority to appropriate out of the Treasury, by ordinance or resolution passed by a majority of all members, all sums of money necessary to carry on the government of the City and defray the expenses thereof, and the said Council shall fix and determine the salary or compensation to be paid to the Treasurer, Police Constables, and all other persons in the employ of the said City. The Mayor shall receive as compensation or emolument for his services as Mayor the sum of Twelve Hundred Dollars per year. The President of the Council shall receive as compensation or emolument for his or her services as President the sum of Eleven Hundred Dollars per year. Each member, other than the President of the said Council, shall receive One Thousand Dollars per year as compensation, and emolument for his or her services."
