DOVER

PROCLAMATION

Whereas, our youth, the leaders of tomorrow, are a vital part of our society today, and all must be given an equal opportunity for education; and

Whereas, many new opportunities are opening to Negro students, they need the training to properly prepare them for these challenges; and

Whereas, colleges of the United Negro College Fund teach in a way which ' prepares young citizens for useful and rewarding careers; and

Whereas, these same 36 independent fully-accredited colleges and universities with their interracial faculties and boards serve all races from the entire country, and have produced many of the outstanding leaders of Delaware and the Nation;

Now, therefore, I, Russell W. Peterson, Governor of the State of Delaware, do hereby proclaim to all citizens of the First State that they should acquaint themselves with the fine efforts of the United Negro College Fund, Inc., and by realizing the many benefits to our State as a result of these endeavors, will see fit to contribute to the success of this worthy organization.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I, Russell W. Peterson, Governor of the State of Delaware, have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of said State to be hereunto affixed at Dover this 7th day of April in the year of our Lord, one thousand nine hundred and seventy, and of the Independence of the United States of America, the one hundred and ninety-fourth.
