PROCLAMATION

Whereas, promotion of better understanding among citizens of all fifty states and foreign countries is a fundamental purpose of the tourist industry; and Whereas, thi s is a time when the entire Nation is engaged in a major program to promote tourism, an industry wh ich does little to destroy envi ronm ent al quality and means additional revenue to aid our economy as well as more jobs for our citizens; and Whereas, development of travel trade w ithin The First State will afford our c itizens t h e opportunit y to more thoroughly familiarize themselves with all of our attractions thereby enabling them to be most helpful to any vi sito rs who may need assistance; and Whereas, The Society of American Travel Writers has de signed a program to add to the enjoyment of traveling w ithin the United States, a project which was originated as a public service in support of city, state, and national travel programs; Now, therefore, I , Russell W. Peterson, Governor of the Stat e of Delaware, do add my full support to this worthy program and hereby proclaim the week of June 14-20, 1970 as

WELCOME A VISITOR WEEK

in Delaware and urge every re s ident of The Fir st State to continue to be hospitable to all visitors and to remember that some travel er's most la st ing memory of your area could be you.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I, Russell W.
