CHAPTER 25
AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE AND DIRECT THE CHAIRMAN OF THE UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION COMMISSION TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT OR AGREEMENTS WITH THE SECRETARY OF LABOR OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA TO DESIGNATE THE UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION COMMISSION AS AGENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA IN ADMINISTERING THE EXTENSION OF THE TEMPORARY UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION ACT OF 1958 ENACTED BY THE 86TH CONGRESS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AND GRANTING THE UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION COMMISSION NECESSARY POWER TO ACT AS SUCH AGENT.
WHEREAS, the 86th Congress of the United States of America has enacted legislation entitled the "Extension of the Temporary Unemployment Compensation Act of 1958" (Public Law 86-7---86th Congress) providing for payment of temporary unemployment compensation benefits to unemployed workers who have exhausted their rights to benefits under state unemployment compensation laws; and
WHEREAS, it is deemed advisable that unemployed Delaware workers be permitted to participate in this federal program; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary for the General Assembly to authorize and direct an officer of the State of Delaware to enter into an agreement or agreements with the Secretary of Labor of the United States of America if such benefits are to be made available to the eligible unemployed Delaware workers;
NOW, THEREFORE
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Delaware:
Section 1. The Chairman of the Unemployment Compensation Commission of the State of Delaware is hereby authorized and directed to enter into an agreement or agreements with the Secretary of Labor of the United States of America whereby the additional unemployment compensation benefits afforded by the extension of the Temporary Unemployment Compensation Act of 1958 (Public Law 86-7-86th Congress) enacted by the 86th Congress of the United States of America, shall be made available to eligible unemployed Delaware workers and whereby the Unemployment Compensation Commission of the State of Delaware shall be designated to serve as agent of the United States of America in the State of Delaware as provided by said Act of Congress. Upon the execution of any such agreement, the Unemployment Compensation Commission of the State of Delaware shall have such powers as may be necessary to carry out its duties as such agent.
