CHAPTER 294
AN ACT TRANSFERRING $1,000 FROM SALARY OF SUPERVISOR OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION AN APPROPRIATION OF THE STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION WHICH APPEARS AS CHAPTER 140, VOLUME 52, LAWS OF DELAWARE, TO AN ACCOUNT FOR THE PURPOSE OF MATCHING FUNDS MADE AVAILABLE UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF PUBLIC LAW 85.864 ENTITLED THE "NATIONAL DEFENSE EDUCATION ACT OF 1958", STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION.
WHEREAS, The Congress of the United States has enacted Public Law 85-864 entitled the "National Defense Education Act of 1958" and has declared the purposes and policies of such law to be as follows:
"The security of the Nation requires the fullest development of the mental resources and technical skills of its young men and women. The present emergency demands that additional and more adequate educational opportunities be made available.
"To meet the present educational emergency requires additional effort at all levels of government. It is therefore the purpose of this Act to provide substantial assistance in various forms to individuals, and to States and their subdivisions, in order to insure trained manpower of sufficient quality and quantity to meet the national defense needs of the United States",
WHEREAS, there will remain unspent in the salary for Supervisor of Physical Education for the year ending June 30, 1960, the sum of $1,000, said appropriation being made to the State Board of Education under Chapter 140, Volume 52, Laws of Delaware,
NOW, THEREFORE
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Delaware:
Section 1. The sum of $1,000 is hereby transferred from the salary of Supervisor of Physical Education (101-0400-D3) an appropriation to the State Board of Education which appears as Chapter 140, Volume 52, Laws of Delaware, to an account for the purpose of matching funds made available under the provisions of Public Law 85-864 entitled the "National Defense Education Act of 1958", State Board of Education.
