AN ACT TO AMEND CHAPTER 7 OF TITLE 29, DELAWARE CODE, RELATING TO COMPENSATION AND EXPENSES OF MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY AND THE LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Delaware:

Section 1. Amend Chapter 7 of Title 29, Delaware Code, by adding thereto a new section to be designated as §710 which new section shall read as follows:

"§710. Compensation; Members of the Senate and House; Lieutenant Governor

(a) Each member of the Senate and the House of Representatives shall receive an annual salary of $9,000, payable semi-monthly commencing on the eleventh month, fifteenth day of the year in which the member is elected through the tenth month, thirty-first day of the year in which his term expires.

(b) Any member of the Senate and the House of Representatives who is elected or appointed to any of the following positions shall, while serving in such position, receive additional semi-monthly compensation as follows:

(5) Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Joint Finance Committee $59.52

(6) Majority and Minority Whip of the Senate $47.62

(7) Majority and Minority Whip of the House $47.62

(8) Members of the Joint Finance Committee $23.81

If a member serving in any of the leadership positions, described in paragraphs (1), (2), (3), (4), (6) and (7) of this subsection, shall be elected or appointed to the position of Chairman or Vice Chairman of the Joint Finance Committee, or shall serve as a member of the Joint Finance Committee, such member shall not be entitled to the additional compensation provided in paragraphs (5) and (8) of this subsection.

Payment made pursuant to this subsection shall begin with the first pay in the month next following the month in which such member is elected or appointed to such position.

(c) The Lieutenant Governor shall receive an annual salary of $10,500 for serving as President of the Senate plus an additional sum of $1,500 annually for performing his other duties, payable semi-monthly commencing on the eleventh month, fifteenth day of the year in which he is elected through the tenth month, thirty-first day of the year in which his term expires."

Section 2. Amend Chapter 7 of Title 29, Delaware Code, by adding thereto a new section to be designated as §711 which new section shall read as follows:

"§711. Expenses of members of the General Assembly

Every member of the General Assembly shall receive $1,500 annually for expenses, payable in semi-monthly payments of $62.50 each, commencing on the eleventh month, fifteenth day of the year in which the member is elected through the tenth month, thirty-first day of the year in which his term expires."

Section 3. This Act shall be effective as of May 1, 1975.
