This Amendment clarifies that the request for authorization for State and local law enforcement to cooperate with federal agencies only applies to civil immigration enforcement activities and not to any other civil matter nor to any criminal related matters, immigration or otherwise, for which no coorperation request is required. This Amendment further provides a 48 hour deadline for the Attorney General to respond to requests for cooperation on civil immigration enforcement activities and provides that requests not responded to within 48 hours are authorized.
