Advanced Features
Global search and bill search have two advanced features to optimize your search experience: operators and phrases.
Operators
Operators are a way to narrow the focus of a search. The Delaware General Assembly supports two search operators: and & or.
AND
Using the and operator will display results that contain all words or phrases. By default, bill search and global search assume the AND operator, but it is useful when combined with the OR operator.
Example
Searching for either education and budget or education budget will return results that contain both the words “education” and “budget”.
OR
Using the or operator will return results that are related to any of the words or phrases.
Example
Searching for either education or budget will display results that contain both “education” or “budget”.
Phrases
Phrases are way to search for an exact match. To do this, wrap the phrase in quotations.
Example
Searching “law enforcement” will display results that contain the exact phrase “law enforcement” within them.
