AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO IMPROVE RECREATIONAL BOATING AND TO REMOVE SHOALS FROM JEFFERSON CREEK AND THE BETHANY BEACH IMPROVEMENT CANAL.

WHEREAS, the removal of shoals in the channel of Vines Creek, Herring Creek, Guinea Creek and Pepper Creek will improve recreational boating; and

WHEREAS, the watercourses connecting Bethany Beach and South Bethany Beach to the Assawoman Canal have deteriorated to such an extent as to interfere with drainage, obstruct use by boats, and create a potential health hazard; and

WHEREAS, the dredge owned and operated by the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control is small enough to operate in the shallow waters and large enough to work economically in the area.

NOW, THEREFORE:

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Delaware:

Section 1. There is hereby appropriated to the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, Office of the Secretary, from the General Fund of the State of Delaware the sum of $620,000 to utilize the State dredge for the improvement of recreational boating in Vines Creek, Herring Creek, Guinea Creek and Pepper Creek, and the removal of shoals from Jefferson Creek and the Bethany Beach Improvement Canal including necessary engineering services.
