PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, trees and birds are links of the ecological chain which is vital to the existence of man; and
WHEREAS, trees are regularly harvested, making the replanting and replenishing of our forests a matter of economic as well as environmental necessity, and
WHEREAS, trees bring pleasure to man because of their beauty and the shelter they provide for our song birds and other valuable wildlife; and
WHEREAS, Section 2108, Title 29 of the Delaware Code, provides that the last Friday in April shall be proclaimed each year as Arbor and Bird Day;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, RUSSELL W. PETERSON, Governor of the State of Delaware do hereby proclaim Friday, April 30 as
in Delaware, and urge all school, public institutions, civic organizations and private citizens to take part in appropriate observances on that day to stimulate appreciation of our Nation's trees from the economic, ecological and aesthetic point of view and to encourage planting of trees wherever possible.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I, RUSSELL W. PETERSON, Governor of the State of Delaware, have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the said State to be hereunto affixed at Dover this 7th day
